Howard is an electrical engineer with a background of 30 years in mobile phone design, development, operations and sales. His more recent interests are in sustainable living and marine conservation.

Howard graduated from Bradford University with an Hons degree in Electrical Engineering, before embarking on a career in mobile phones. He worked for Motorola, Philips and Lucent during the rapid development of digital and smartphone technology, rising to senior VP of Sony Ericsson. He has co-founded a number of start-ups, raising over $100m in investor finance, and runs his own consultancy practice. In 2018, seeing for himself the impact of climate change on the oceans, he changed direction to focus on sustainable living and marine conservation, particularly coral reef regeneration. He joined the board of CCell in 2019 and is chairman of the board.

Howard has 4 children and 1 grandchild, and lives in the Dordogne, France.
